Our History

In 2007, the Vatican’s Congregation for the Clergy issued a booklet to bishops throughout the world titled Eucharistic Adoration for the Sanctification of Priests and Spiritual Maternity. With its release, a movement of prayer was initiated but not formalized.

The inspiration for the founding of the Foundation of Prayer for Priests began on pilgrimage to the Holy Land in 2013, where a priest working in Rome presented Kathleen Beckman with the Congregation’s second edition of Eucharistic Adoration for the Sanctification of Priests and Spiritual Maternity.

After receiving inspiration at the Rock of Calvary in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Kathleen wrote a letter to the Congregation, proposing to enlist a team of priests and laity in the creation of an apostolate to promote the Congregation’s blueprint of Eucharistic Adoration for the Sanctification of Priests and Spiritual Maternity.

Kathleen received a written response with a protocol number on May 31, 2013, from Mauro Cardinal Piacenza, then prefect of the Congregation for the Clergy.

In the name of the Congregation, Cardinal Piacenza graciously conveyed his approval and encouragement. A founding team of priests and laity with episcopal advisers was formed later in 2013.

Coinciding with the launch of the Foundation of Prayer for Priests was the debut of this website and the release of the book Praying for Priests: A Mission for the New Evangelization, by Kathleen Beckman, in 2014.

Then in 2018 the new revised edition of the book was re-named and released as, “Praying for Priests: An Urgent Call for the Salvation of Souls”, by Kathleen Beckman, 2018
