The Foundation of Prayer for Priests is a private association of the faithful according to the Church's canons 215; 298-299 §§1-2. Founded in 2013 with encouragement of Rome's Congregation for the Clergy, we exist to build up the Body of Christ. Our members include clergy and lay faithful in over twenty countries.
The mission of the Foundation of Prayer for Priests, a Eucharistic apostolate, is to spiritually advance and protect the holiness and fruitfulness of the Priesthood of the Lord by igniting a movement of prayer, sacrifice, service, and study.
We encourage women, men, families, parishes, to discover and live their call to spiritual motherhood and fatherhood of souls, especially for clergy and seminarians. Timely and vital is this vision since St. John Vianney taught, “When people want to destroy religion, they begin by attacking the priest.”
Through our "Vianney Cenacles" prayer is offered by individuals or communities in homes or parishes. Through our program of spiritual adoption of priests and seminarians, you can build a spiritual reservoir of grace for priests and seminarians.
We pray that the resources on this website will inspire in priests, seminarians and laity an ardent desire to engage in this mission for the salvation of souls. The Church has been praying for the holiness of clergy and for vocations for over two thousand years, but “for such a time as this” a new emphasis is given for an ardent movement of intercessory prayer to protect the holiness and fruitfulness of the clergy. Together, we form an army of intercessors under the mantle of Mary, Mother of the Eternal High Priest. Please join us and invite others also.
"Every Priest is a Jacob's Ladder"
This short video presents Bishop Robert Barron’s ordination of six Dominican friars to the priesthood, which took place on May 25, 2019
at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC.
Bishop Barron explains how our priests are Jacob’s Ladders.
“Please keep these new priests and all the newly ordained priests in your prayers, asking the Lord
that they always remain faithful and seek to imitate in their own lives the sacrifice of Jesus, our great high priest.” - Bishop Barron.

Praying for our priests is becoming more important these days and who better to explain why than a priest. Lisa Flood, with Focus TV, interviews Father Andrew Merrick and Kathleen Beckman in an episode called, "A Divine Mandate". Father Andrew's joy seems contagious as he describes his calling and how he felt others were praying for him. In this video you'll also get to hear how Kathleen was called to spiritual motherhood and praying for priests. The video is available to watch on Vimeo here.
Introducing a New 2018 Manual for Helping Priests—Through Our Prayers
History has taught us the power of intercessory prayer, and nobody is in more need of our prayers than Catholic priests battling on the front lines for the salvation of souls. Priests are called to fight evil, but they cannot fight it alone. As attacks on the priesthood intensify, you have a vital role to play in supporting priestly renewal and vocations. Those men who have answered God’s calling depend upon you to wield the most powerful weapon against the evil one — prayer.
Here Ignatian certified retreat director and author Kathleen Beckman offers Church-approved ways in which you can contribute to the welfare of the Church. Priests, seminarians, consecrated religious, and laypeople will all benefit from insights into the indispensability of the Catholic priesthood, the mission of praying for priests in the context of the New Evangelization, testimonies of spiritual mothers and priests, and Scriptural rosaries dedicated to priests, vocations, and reparation.

Priests: Worthy of Our Prayers
"I am among you as one who serves" (Luke 22:27). Understanding the Catholic priesthood—its function, its necessity, its relationship with Jesus Christ—is an essential part of knowing our Catholic Faith. How well do we understand the meaning of the call to minister as Jesus did?
Mary: Spiritual Motherhood
Utter humility. Joyful contemplation. Complete trust in divine providence. These are just a few of Mary's spiritual traits. But do you see Mary as your spiritual mother? Discover this beautiful aspect of her spirituality and how you can imitate her in living out the vocation of spiritual motherhood.
The New Evangelization
Pope Francis inspires the Church as he leads her in advancing the New Evangelization, especially through his recent apostolic exhortation Evangellii Gaudium (The Joy of the Gospel). But what is the New Evangelization? And what does prayer have to do with it? Find out here.
The Power of Intercessory Prayer
Intercessory prayer can strengthen the hearts of priests—and change the world: "Since Abraham, intercession - asking on behalf of another has been characteristic of a heart attuned to God's mercy. In the age of the Church, Christian intercession participates in Christ's, as an expression of the communion of saints." - Catechism of the Catholic Church
"Adore and visit Jesus, abandoned and forsaken by men in His Sacrament of Love. Man has time for everything except for visits to His Lord and God, Who is waiting and longing for us in the Blessed Sacrament. The streets and places of entertainment are filled with people; the House of God is deserted. Ah! Poor Jesus..." - St . Peter Julian Eymard
Spiritual Warfare and Healing
Drawing from the strength we have in Jesus Christ, we need not be afraid of understanding and, through our prayers, participating in the most important spiritual battle of all: "For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places" (Ephesians 6:12).
